UUSM - About Us - Cottage Meeting FAQ
Cottage Meeting FAQ
Q: I'm not a member. Can I attend a Cottage Meeting? Is it OK for me to fill out a survey?
A: Yes. And yes. Yes to both Qs. If you attend on Sundays, serve on a committee, join us for events, etc., the A is yes.
Q: I filled out a survey. Why do I need to go to a Cottage Meeting?
A: Cottage Meetings are a great place for exchange of ideas, to hear how others view the church and will measure ministerial success. Also, the survey and Cottage Meetings cover different topics.
Q: What happens with the information?
A: It'll be included in the Congregational Packet which pre-candidates will receive. We'll post summaries on uusm.org, too. Just as importantly, we'll use your comments and responses as we proceed in the Search process.
Q: Are the survey responses confidential?
A: Yes. We won't know who submitted which survey via computer. And the written surveys are shredded as soon as they are entered on line.
Q: How do I take the survey online?
A: Just go to www.tinyurl.com/uusm-searchsurvey. You can use the church office computers on Sunday, or fill out a paper survey. You'll find them at the Search Table in Forbes Hall.
Q: I'm a teenager. Can I participate, too?
A: Absolutely. That would be so awesome! Teens can become church members if they are 16 or older or have finished Coming of Age. What you think and what you say is important.
Q: I procrastinate. When's the drop-dead deadline?
A: October 4, 2009.
Q: Where can I get more information?
A: Search@uusm.org, or from a Search Committee member wearing a blue Search name tag.
