UUSM - About Us - Management Policies - Newsletter

Newsletter

Created September 2001; revision approved by the Board of Directors on May 9, 2006

The responsibility for the editorial policies and practices of the church newsletter ulti-mately rests with the board of directors. The editor is responsible for the production of the newsletter and for implementing board policies, including making reasonable discretionary decisions relating to the content and design.

The primary function of the newsletter is to inform the congregation and visitors of church issues, programs and activities. Space and emphasis will be allocated according to the following priorities:

Articles published in one issue will not be reprinted in a subsequent issue. If an event is to be publicized for more than one month, it is asked that the wording be changed. We suggest focusing on some aspect of the story more thoroughly. Variety encourages people to read the newsletter.

All newsletter items must be emailed to the editor by 12 noon on the 15th of the month prior to publication. Articles received after the deadline will appear in the next issue. The email address will appear in every issue.

Inserts are not enclosed in the newsletter. Classified ads are not accepted. Appropriate notices may be submitted to the church office for the order of service.

The newsletter editor may edit material for length, style, grammar, etc., and refuse material that is not appropriate. Literary contributions will not be accepted.

Any questions or problems concerning the newsletter should be addressed to the editor. Disagreements about what should be published will be resolved by the minister, the president, and the editor.

All material is copyrighted and is the property of the church.
