Special Congregational Meeting

Sunday, September 19, 2004 at 12:30 p.m. in the Sanctuary

Agenda

The Board of Directors hopes all Church members will share in the participatory democracy of this Congregation. A quorum for all Church business meetings must consist of not less than one-sixth of the voting members. Voting members of the Church who do not expect to be present may vote by absentee ballot to be received by the Church office at least two days prior to the meeting. Non-members are welcome to attend, but cannot vote. Childcare will be available.

1. Call to Order and Quorum

2. Appointment of Parliamentarian, Ballot/Hand Counters and Timekeeper

3. Adoption of Rules of the Meeting

4. Presentation of Preliminary Design Recommendation of the Building Committee

The Board of Directors recommends approval of the following Motion No. 1 by the Congregation:

Motion No. 1: The Board of Directors and the Building Committee are authorized to proceed immediately with the development and submission of an application for planning commission approval to the City of Santa Monica in accordance with the recommendation of the Building Committee for the preliminary design designated as M-1.

5. Presentation on Financial Status of the Church Relative to the Building Program

6. Presentation Regarding Capital Campaign Committee

7. Authorization Regarding Capital Campaign and Funding Alternatives

The Board of Directors recommends approval of the following Motion No. 2 by the Congregation:

Motion No. 2: The Board of Directors is authorized to (1) renew the capital campaign to raise construction funds from the members and friends of the Church, and (2) seek additional sources of funding from grants or loans.

8. Authorization for Immediate Sale of 17th Street Property

The Board of Directors makes no recommendation to the Congregation regarding Motion No. 3:

Motion No. 3: The Board of Directors is authorized to immediately proceed with the sale of the property owned by the Church on 17th Street on such terms and conditions as the Board of Directors deems reasonable and appropriate.
