Louis Durra
Organist/Pianist
Louis Durra has performed and recorded extensively in jazz, folk, classical and rock music: Moris Tepper, Ruben Blades, Logan Heftel, Taylor Negron, Sugar Plum Fairies, Camper Van Beethoven, Syd Straw.
Louis has performed with dancers and dance companies: JAZZ TAP ENSEMBLE, TANGO ADAMOR, Savion Glover, Derek Grant, Sam Weber and Channing Cook Holmes. He toured Russia and the Baltic states with JUST IN TIME, a jazz dance revue.
Louis has composed for film and television, including CBS' THE GUIDING LIGHT. He worked for several years as a sound editor for features and considers that experience important to his recording and performing.
Louis has scored and music-directed plays and musicals at the Mark Taper Forum, Theatricum Botanicum, South Coast Repertory Theatre, and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. He won a Drama-Logue Award for his score for THE LESSON at the Mark Taper Forum. In 2006 Louis was nominated for an Ovation Award, LA Weekly Award, Backstage Garland Award and Los Angeles Drama Critic's Circle Award. This was for his work as Music Director and arranger on PLAY IT COOL at the Celebration Theater. More info at these websites:
