Young Children
Nursery Care: For newborns to age 3
Curriculum: tender, loving care
Meets in the main office to the left of the front entrance; look for
the nursery carpet! Available 8:45-10:15 & 10:45-12:15. Care is offered
between the services for members of the church choir only.
Babies and toddlers are kept safe and happy with loving care. We do not yet
have a dedicated nursery space, but what we lack in surroundings we make up
for in warmth and welcome. Staffed by professional childcare providers and
loving members of our church community.
Parents and guardians are requested to formally register their children in
the fall. They should provide adequate food or snacks and be sure their baby
is freshly changed. For safety reasons, our staff does not change diapers.
Preschoolers Ages 3-5
Curriculum: Chalice Children
Class names: Chalice Children at 9:00 and Superfriends at 11:00
The primary goal of this class is to create an atmosphere that invites religious
growth and learning. Based upon a philosophy that a child’s spiritual
development is related to direct experience, this curriculum helps young children
learn what it means to be a Unitarian Universalist. Using a chalice theme,
children learn about their religious community, engage in sharing with others,
and explore a sense of belonging.
The curriculum for this year, “Chalice Children,” encourages young
children to:
· Nurture affection and affirmation for each child’s individuality
· Develop a sense of belonging to a Unitarian Universalist community
· Foster acceptance, trust, and an appreciation of themselves and
others in their world
· Create a sense of connection to nature and the universe
· Develop self expression, cooperative skills, and creative achievements
as they learn and grow.
