Visitor FAQUUSM - About Us - UU 101 Classes
"UU 101" Classes
The Unitarian Church Community Church of Santa Monica has developed a new course, sponsored by the Membership & Leadership Committee, for people who are interested in membership or simply want to get to know our values, principles, and community a bit better.
What you can expect from our class is an appreciation and understanding for:
1. Our shared spiritual journeys in considering being a part of Unitarian Universalism.
2. Our history as a progressive religion and as a Santa Monica Community.
3. Our church structure and governance.
4. The ways you can participate in our primary programs such as Religious Education for your children, Faith in Action, Membership, and Music.
5. The steps to membership including a discussion on the commitments of membership.
When you register you are agreeing to participate in both classes, each 1.5 hours with a total 3-hour commitment. At the start of the course we will be giving a transitional nametag (something a bit more permanent than a sticky name tag) for you to wear during the class and when you attend our Sunday services. It is a small token of our appreciation for your time and efforts. It is also symbolic and lets us know you have moved from our guest to a participating part of our community. Your will also receive a membership packet for your consideration (with no strings attached!) and information on how you can get involved in our community.
We look forward to your participation in these new classes and will welcome your questions or suggestions as a part of our shared journey.
