FIA: Peace & Social Justice - Zoom/Online
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Peace & Social Justice Committee (PSJ) puts our Unitarian Universalist principles of justice, human rights and sustainability into action in our local community and beyond. Our ongoing work is to organize activities and programs for the congregation and support external campaigns in the areas of labor and economic issues; anti-racism, police reform, and mass incarceration; immigration and immigrant detention; and resisting war. This year we are helping to #UUtheVote! We work with community partners such as CLUE (Clergy & Laity United for Economic Justice), Black Lives Matter: Los Angeles, OFA (Organizing for Action), ACLU, the Sunrise Movement and others. We also collaborate with the UUSM Green Committee on issues relating to environmental justice and the climate crisis. During the pandemic we are keeping the work going remotely.
This month's topic:
This Sunday we will take time to respond to the recent horrific attacks on the U.S. Capitol and the ongoing threat of white supremacist violence to democracy and to peace and justice.
Everyone is invited to join us!
