UU Men's Group - Zoom/Online

The Men's Group offers a special opportunity to the men of the congregation and other like-minded men to join our welcoming group in provocative and stimulating discussion and to get to know others with UU perspectives in a more meaningful way. We meet the first and third Thursdays of the month at 7:30 PM in the NE room of the Cottage.

The Men's Group offers a special opportunity to the men of the congregation and other like minded men to join our welcoming group in provocative and stimulating discussion and to get to know others with UU perspectives in a more meaningful way. Normally we meet the first and third Thursdays of the month at 7:30 PM in the NE room of the Cottage, but while we are staying home we are meeting via Zoom.

These topics were gratefully suggested by Jim.

The topic for June 4 is: "There are in fact no masses, but only ways of seeing people as masses.”  (Raymond Williams (1961) in, Resources of Hope: Culture, Democracy, Socialism.)  It seems that it is human nature to label and categorize people we do not know well personally.  What is an example of people you realize that you tend to regard mainly by a group label? How is this bad for them and for you?

Here is the announcement for a change in the Men's Discussion Group topic for June 18:

The previously announced topic is being postponed until July, and because of the significance of the widespread national protests after George Floyd's killing we will discuss the June 6 Washington Post article:  "America Convulses Amid a Week of Protests, But can it Change?"

America convulses amid a week of protests, but can it change?

America convulses amid a week of protests, but can it change?

The events of recent days suggest something profound has happened, though it may be years before the country kno...

The topic for July 2, 2020 will be considering any other article(s) dealing with the future of the U.S. following the protests.

The topic for July 16 is:  Recalling an important conflict in your life, did you handle it successfully? If not, did you benefit from the experience in a similar situation later in life?

For more information about joining the Zoom meeting and the article(s) to be discussed on 7/16 please contact Richard Mathias at 310-645-1070 or richmathias2@yahoo.com.
