John Flynn Concert

 John Flynn is an award winning singer/songwriter who has been honored for his social service as well as his music.  His life journey has led him to a performance that blends humor, social justice, family fare and poignant looks into the hearts of us all.  His strong, rich voice gives life to his passionate and perceptive words.  Accompanied by guitar, harmonicas, and sometimes a ukelele, John sings of light in dark places.  He makes you laugh, he makes you feel, he makes you care.  Expect a show of warmth and wit, sharp-eyed commentary, brilliant performance and a wide-open heart.

For those new to the church, this is the night our community shares their talent.  We perform in the Sanctuary supported by a professionally run sound system if you need it.  So bring a song, poem, theatrical sketch or short story you would like to share with us.  Team up with someone else and put something together.  It is relaxed and fun.  Immediately following the Second Sunday Supper, it will be a night of food and entertainment!  For more info and to book a spot contact Bronwen Jones.

LA Tapestries

Yale University's "Out of the Blue" in Concert

Singer & Guitarist Jim Harmon at Sunday Services

Singer and guitarist Jim Harmon will be the guest musician for our Sunday service.  For the past couple of years you have enjoyed his lovely playing at the Dining For Dollars Choir Event.  Inspired by artists like James Taylor and Joni Mitchell, Harmon brings a fresh style to old favorites and his original tunes.

Solo Cello Recital

Young cellist Evan Kahn will play Bach, Elgar, Piatti & Popper. Evan has played at the Rudolfinum in Prague, Lincoln Center and Disney Hall, and has begun to play solo cello on film scores. Evan is in his senior year at Santa Monica High. Admisstion is free.

"The Messiah"

Selections from Handel’s Messiah will be performed by Michelle McWilliams, Danielle Marcelle Bond, Steve Grabe and Eric Carampatan, accompanied by a chamber ensemble. Suggested donation is $15, or $10 with a non perishable food donation for the Westside Food Bank. Reception following the performance. Some parking will be available at the Seventh Day Adventist parking lot on 19th street between Arizona and Wilshire. Reservations for the concert can be made at messiah.at.uusm@hotmail.com

L.A. Tapestries Concert

The second L.A. Tapestries concert will take place at the Unitarian Universalist Community Church of Santa Monica, 1260 18th St. (on the corner of 18th and Arizona) in Santa Monica. Suggested Donation: $10.

The concert will explore the music of some of the greatest composers of all time - Beethoven, Mozart, Bach, Handel, Faure, Grieg, Copland, Barber, and others. The group will present music these composers wrote which were influenced by spiritual themes - whether spiritual texts, or the personal journeys of the composers.
